The Rotary Club of Halifax Harbourside has funded many international projects over the years, some large and some small. In 2015, the Kiva micro-loan program was brought to the attention of the club as a great way of spreading Rotary goodwill even wider.

In February 2015, the club's members voted to have the club match up to 8 loans from individual members (= US$200). Within a matter of days, eight Rotarians had each loaned US$25, and so the club matched those funds. With those US$400 we launched the Rotary Club of Halifax Harbourside Kiva Lending Team. The team's broad focus is to support: Women / Groups / Africa / Agricultural or Education or Retail, but the choice is varied.

As of October 2017, our club's Kiva lending team has 11 members and has made 109 loans of US$25 (with all repayments reinvested, totaling
~US$2725).
