We hope to see you at Humani-T, at the corner Young and Agricola. The parking is great, the coffee is excellent and the conversation is even better. This is a chance to relax with Rotarians and friends and discuss a current topic in NS - what could be more interesting?!? You will find us in the corner by the fireplace at 5:30 p.m.

Halifax Harbourside Rotary will be staffing the Salvation Army Christmas Kettle at the Bayers Lake Costco on Saturday 15 December, from 9:30 am to 6:30 pm. The Salvation Army is one of the largest direct providers of social services in Canada, giving hope and support to vulnerable people in 400 communities. We do community service at Souls Harbour Mission and many of the people you serve there are also recipients from the Salvation Army at Christmas. We need pairs of volunteers for 1.5 hour shifts. The pair could be Rotarians or friends. Sign up using the Google Doc please. We will be stationed at the exit doors of Costco and will encourage customers to give up their loose change into the Kettle as they leave the building. This has been very successful in the past and the results have been very rewarding. We hope to see you there in 2 weeks! |

Apr. 05, 2019 7:15 a.m. - 8:30 a.m.
We are meeting this week at the Halifax North Memorial Public Library. Our speaker be Sarah Ziolkowska, the Youth Librarian, who will be speaking to Halifax Harbourside Rotary about supporting their program providing kids at the library with stigma-free healthy snacks.
Staff at the Halifax North Memorial library have noticed kids are coming to the library hungry, and can spend hours or a full day there without eating. Behavioural issues sometimes arise from kids being hungry and feeling unwell. Although there are several service providers and free meals in the area for adults, these do not meet the needs of the youth that attend the library. The library has been providing stigma-free healthy snacks along with food literacy everyday to support the health and wellness of the kids. These efforts have been extremely popular, and have helped kids participate in programs as well as provide peace of mind to parents and families. The library's current grant to support the healthy snacks program expired at the end of February 2019.
Location for this Friday's meeting:
Halifax North Memorial Public Library, 2285 Gottingen Street
There is parking at the back on Maitland Street, but you have to walk around to the front door on Gottingen to get in.
Please bring your own coffee/tea/snacks. (Eating is allowed at the library!) Doors will open at 7 AM with normal meeting times.
