The Global Grant scholarship supports graduate education (masters or doctoral level) for students studying internationally, for 1-4 years, in one of Rotary’s 6 areas of focus.

Global Grant Scholarships are provided from a combination of Club Funds and District Designated Funds, matched by The Rotary Foundation at 50% and 100% respectively.  May 28, 2015, the Rotary Club of Halifax Harbourside (RCHH) received confirmation that Matt Hefler had been awarded a Global Grant Scholarship.

Matt is studying in a PhD program at King’s College, London. His focus is on how government foreign policy can promote peace and prevent and resolve world conflicts, and especially how secret intelligence shapes that policy.  Matt is an outstanding student, has concrete career goals and is active in community service.  The Global Grant Scholarship awarded to Matt was for US$36,055.

Thanks are due to to our funding partner Clubs – Avalon Northeast (St. John’s NL), Bridgewater (NS), Kentville (NS), Mud Creek (Wolfville, NS), New Minas (NS), Sackville (NS), St-Pierre et Miqueon (France), and Summerside (PE).  Thanks are also due to Redbridge Rotary Club (London, UK) which will serve as Mr. Hefler’s in-country host Club.
