Day of Caring

Halifax Connects Day of Caring  is a free day where service agencies, organizations, donors and sponsors work together to help local residents, including many who are experiencing homelessness or are at risk of homelessness. General services provided include: the hair salon, a hot sit-down lunch, medical and foot care, and clothing distribution. Halifax Connects is a place where community includes those who are under-served and places them as the top priority. Each year, more than 1,000 people connect - >200 volunteers and >800 guests.

Rotary Club of Halifax Harbourside members volunteered at Halifax Connects Day of Caring at the Citadel High Community Centre in 2014 and 2015.

The Day of Caring moved from Fall 2016 and Halifax Connects is planned to be held in Spring 2017. "We are using this time to raise the needed funds and enhance the services offered at the event," says Meghan Laing, event co-founder.
