Interact provides young people ages 12 to 18 the opportunity to make new friends, improve their community, develop leadership skills, and make a difference in the world.  Interact clubs are self-governing and financially independent, with local Rotary club members providing support and guidance.  There are ~11,000 Interact clubs and ~200,000 Interactors in >100 countries worldwide.

The Rotary Club of Halifax Harbourside sponsors an Interact Club at Gorsebrook Junior High.

GJH’s Interact Club does at least 2 projects each year.  Their projects have included:

a brick-by-brick fundraiser to help build a school in Pakistan;
a purple pinkie fundraiser to support international vaccination against polio;
collecting gently used jeans for homeless youth;
the sale of Rafiki Friend chains to provide clean water for a year for 54 children; and
collecting gently used winter clothing for Souls Harbour for homeless people in Halifax.

The GJH Interact Club also earns an honorarium for providing on-site child care services at the Cunard Centre during Rotary Club of Halifax Harbourside’s annual Mom’s Day Brunch. Last year they donated their honorarium to Hope Blooms.
