Rotary Adventure in Human Rights

The Rotary Adventure in Human Rights program is a collaborative effort of the Rotary World Peace Partners and the Canadian Museum for Human Rights (CMHR), in Winnipeg.  The program is a one week immersion course in human rights and is limited to 24 high school students who are going in to Grade 11 or 12.

Themes discussed in the program include: What are human rights?; First Peoples rights in a changing Canada; Gender perspectives; Democratic rights; and Protecting rights in Canada.

The Rotary Adventure in Human Rights program began as a pilot in August 2015, with students from across Manitoba attending the first year and the following year.

For the 2017 program, Rotary Club of Halifax Harbourside secured one of the program spots to sponsor a student from Halifax to attend.

Meredith Kent, from Citadel High, was selected to attend this year's Adventure in Human Rights program - taking place August 13-19.

The value of the sponsorship is approx. $1750, including the $1000 program fee and air travel to/from Winnipeg.
