Saint George’s YouthNet is a place of friends and mentors, of fun and challenge, and a home away from home for kids from the Uniacke Square neighbourhood of North End Halifax since 1996. Linked to Saint George’s Round Church but non-proselytizing, SGYN offers programs for youth aged 7-17 aimed to let participants discover their talents, gain self-confidence, and learn to dream of a bright future.   SGYN’s programs include after school, lunch, and teen programs including wilderness trips and day camps

Rotary Club of Halifax Harbourside is a long term partner of SGYN – providing direct funding as well as volunteering directly within the teen program several times each year.

Rotary Club of Halifax Harbourside provided direct funding of $5,000 in 2013, increasing funding to $10,000 each year in 2014 and 2015.  October 2015, we signed a new 3-year funding MoU with SGYN, pledging to provide $10,000 each year for 2016 through 2018.

Members of Rotary Club of Halifax Harbourside volunteer with the Teen Program, for example arranging day trips to go Surfing at Lawrencetown Beach in Summer 2014 and Whale Watching off Brier Island in Fall 2015.
